Frame Your Perfect Moment with a Perfect Photo Frame

For anyone’s life, pictures or photographs are an indispensable part. They are witnesses to each special event that we have celebrated in life with friends, family and colleagues.

They also capture special moments in our lives whether exciting trip, graduating from school, marriage, and many more
.

While for most photo we prefer to kept them in several photo albums, there are some pictures that are simply too good to keep hidden away from everyone’s view.

These pictures, we proudly show off in picture frames. What are the Standard Picture Frame Sizes that we can choose from? How do we make the right selection?

Pick a Good Picture Frame

When considering what kind of photo frame that we need, more than the design and material of the frame, what we should decide first is the size of the frame itself.

Standard Picture Frame usually available in five sizes: 4×6, 5×7, 8×10, 11×14, and 16×20.

These Standard Picture Frame Sizes are measured in inches. What we should keep in mind when looking for the right picture frame size is that the measurements are the actual size of the photos and not the frame itself as there is usually a border that comes with the frame.

When choosing standard picture frame size, the borders are not meant to be considered, but the actual space where we will be inserting or placing the photo.

In some countries, there are other frame dimensions which are likewise considered as Standard Picture Frame Sizes. These include 4×10, 5×5, 8×8, 20×24 – still all measured in inches.

Some of these standard also comes in additional half-inch sizes, so we’d best check what photo dimensions we have printed ou.

Monica Stevenson & the Hermes Scarf

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

The play by Peter Shaffer, where a psychiatrist attempts to treat a young man who has a pathological sexual obsession with horses, is reminiscent of the work of US photographer Monica Stevenson she uses luxury goods such as Tiffany bracelets and Hermes Scarves on and next to equines as the focus for some of her major work.

This piece of a horse wearing a luxury scarf ‘Hermes Scarf Horse’ won Stevenson a place in the ‘Advertising photographers of America’. It makes you ask the following questions inwardly, is that a horse? What is that around the horses nose? It says something about the use of animals. It forces you to study the accessories in a different way, much more than if it were draped over a model.

Monica’s main subjects have always been horses, her equine photographs are displayed proudly on her website. I think she mixes the use of luxury Hermes and Gucci goods with ther love of equines beautifully in her work.

Her images are sexual and beautiful, but you ask if you should be looking, they seam personal? Stevenson is toying with us, daring us to keep watching, to keep delving.

The work has almost a sadomasochistic edge to it, highlighted by the use of horse and human hair wound around Iron stirrups and leather straps, oddly enough a similar thing is depicted on this vintage Hermes scarf.

Stevenson’s use of insects, typically reviled in fashion is also very beautiful. Stevenson is pushing the fashion item into your hands, getting you to turn it over and over.

The beauty about Stevensons work is that is takes you away to somewhere new, it might not be a beautiful place at times but that doesnt seam to matter, it is the interest that keeps you watching.

How To Dramatically Improve How Your Home Looks

Most people get bored with their home decor from time to time. Once you have moved your furniture a few times, changed the paint color, or added a few new well placed ornaments, you are ready for something a little more dramatic to give you the much desired change that you are looking for. Or maybe you are still searching for that one elsuive thing that will really pull your whole home together.

There are many easy ways to revitalise  your home on a tight budget. Not all of them have to cost you an arm and a leg either. Interior design specialists can often go into a room, add a few pillows, canvas art prints, add a rug or two, or change the paint color and the home looks like a brand new place. The good news is that you can easily do it too!

You can use area rugs to dramatically change the look of a room. They can be used to change the color of the floor, of course, but they can also be used to create a sitting area. People will be naturally drawn to an area if it looks warm and comfortable. Although large rugs can be expensive, you can get a nice size area rug without spending too much.  You can pick one that is rich in color and texture, and once you put it down your room will look completely different!

Artwork is another way to change the look of a room. Many designers print photos on canvas as a way to produce original, inexpensive artwork in homes. You can take any picture that you like, whether it is of your family or a an artist’s painting and print the image  on canvas. It will last for years to come and will look very professional on the canvas. On it’s own, artwork can create different moods when palced within a room.

We all know that painting can really change the look of a room, but if you aren’t up for painting, you can add some new throw pillows for a splash of color. Maybe even tie the color of the throw pillows in with your new canvas artwork. The key is to find a common color and use it multiple times in a room to really make the room look pulled together and complete.

Finally, you can rearrange your belongings or room decorations. Instead of spacing them out all around the room, try to display them together in one place and use many items of differing size in an odd number to create a beautiful eclectic display.

Wedding Day Photography Planning

When most couples plan their wedding day they take a lot of things into consideration. They coordinate the date according to vacation times from work. Or they coordinate the wedding day for the family to be able to make it into town. Or they make plans according to the availability of the church or restaurant.

But one of the biggest things couples fail to plan for is the photographer.  This is no small matter.  And I am not just saying it because I am a wedding photographer

No planning the wedding day with the wedding photographer in mind could mean all the difference in the world. Especially when you realize that the photos are what are going to last a lifetime.

So what are the key factors to consider when planning with the photographer in mind. The date and time.

Let’s begin talking about time.  How many couples would want their photographer rushing through the photo shoot?  I am pretty sure most people will not raise their hand to that.

Not even thinking about your photographer, most of the times the bride and groom will do just that.  They will force the photographer to rush his shots.

How so you say? Well let’s say, the couple makes the ceremony between 1-2 pm. With the reception beginning at 2:30. How many shots can a photographer make when he only has a half hour to work with?  Not many.

Worse thing to consider, what if he does manage to take all the photos?  Do you think they will be of the best quality when the shots are rushed?  Of course not.

So plan the times for the wedding and the reception with enough space in between to take all the photos.

The second thing to think about when doing your planning is to keep the photographer’s availability in mind.

Most probably don’t realize this, but most good photographers will be booked months in advance. Let’s say you are dealing with a large photography company, they probably have a few photographers.

Well making wedding plans without thinking about the availability of the photographer could be a nightmare. Because when you reserve that special day, without making sure your photographer is available, come wedding day you might get a shock when you find somebody totally different.

This happens more than you can imagine when dealing with a big photography company. You may not even realize that they have a staff of photographers and if the photographer you liked is booked, unless you ask, they might not tell you. When the wedding day comes, a second rate photographer or worse yet, they might outsource the work and somebody else will show up.

Be prepared that you don’t let something like this happen. Planning that special wedding day can be truly wonderful.  Make sure you plan it also with your wedding photographer in mind.

Choosing a Wedding Photographer Made Easy

A wedding is one of the most important events that will occur in a person’s life. Many hours goes into a lot of the planning for the wedding. Most of the tasks that take place in wedding planning are time consuming, stressful, and can be frustrating. That’s why it is critical that you do your homework when finding the right people for all the jobs. One of the critically important jobs will be for the photographer. From my experience as a San Diego wedding photographer I’ll show you it can be a few simple steps away.

Finding a wedding photographer is a big job. There are several things to take into account when trying to make this important decision. The photos that you take away from your wedding are going to be the most memorable keepsakes that you have. The photos will be hanging on your walls for the rest of yourlife. One of the most obvious factors when choosing any photographer is price. Most photographers do charge a price for a specific amount of time for the wedding. It is important to know what will be included with that price up front
price. When it comes to finding a wedding photographer, the biggest upside to pricing is there is a lot of competition. Remember, that a lot of photographers can and will negotiate their price a little bit to fit what you need.

Another thing to take into account when deciding is how much experience does this person have. Is this their first wedding job, or have they done a few? Their price may reflect how long they have been in business as well. Just because someone is experienced, doesn’t always translate into being a better photographer. A lot times people that are just starting out and are trying to build a reputation for themselves will turn out to be great. The advantage of going with someone like that is you know you are going to get their best effort. When you are trying to find a wedding photgrapher, you will find photographers of different levels of experience. When you do an interview of prospective photographers, it will give you a sense of what it will be like when you work with them.

A final thing to consider when making this decision is what type of personality the photographer has. Are they going to call all the shots and make all of the poses? Or will they let the bride and groom make some of the decisions themselves? The other thing to consider is whether or not you want to be making decisions on the photos. The bride and groom might have enough to worry about that day as it is. Take these factors and consider them when you choose your photographer. If you do, you will have some wonderful photos to cherish the rest of your lives.  Take it from me, your experienced San Diego photographer.

Tips from a San Diego Wedding Photographer

Being asked to take photos for a wedding is a huge responsibility. If you are doing it as a favor, or if you are doing it as your profession, following these 5 tips will help you do the job right.

This tips are coming from first hand experience as a San Diego wedding photographer. It doesn’t matter if you are a seasoned pro, or if you are an amateur, by following these tips, you won’t second guess yourself.Doing this you will be fully prepared come what may.

Our first tip is pretty simple and that is to have the couple and their families make a list for you of shots they want to take. With a day that can be as hectic and chaotic as a wedding day, doing this will help when you are trying to organize all the group and family shots later on in the day.Imagine how wonderful it will be to just go down your list and know that you aren’t leaving anything out.

The second tip on our list is to not delete any shots.  In this day and age of digital cameras, most photographers use them.  Great as they are, they also are tempting to delete a shot since it is so easy to do.  Don’t even look at the previews.  What makes a great shot in your mind could differ widely that what makes a great shot in the couples minds.  And who knows, they might appreciate the so called un “professional” shots.

The third tip to make sure you do is taking candid shots.A good wedding photographer doesn’t look to just take your typical shots, like group shots, or wedding shots or your standard newly married shots.  But they will also try and capture the emotions of the day through the shots of all the people that were there. It may include the things that go wrong also, like a flower girl making a wrong turn or the ring bearer not wanting to walk down the aisle.Every photo matters.

The fourth one to consider, and something that can easily be overlooked is to make sure you have several cameras with several lenses as backup.  Do you even want to imagine having a camera stop working halfway through the day.  Plan for anything that could go wrong.By being ready with extra equipment, you will avoid the uncomfortable time of not being able to take any more pictures of the wedding day with a broken camera.

Finally, you have to be prepared for the lighting and you do that by practicing. Don’t get thrown a curveball by the different lighting conditions whether inside the church or outside, practice and you will be prepared. Think about seeing if you can go to the locations of the big day and look for the best spots to take pictures as well as study the lighting needs.

Doing these 5 tips will help you immensely.  It will prepare you for whatever might go wrong, it will prepare you for capturing what goes right, and it will prepare you to help contribute to this wonderful day by being the best photographer you can be.  Take it from my years of experience as a San Diego photographer.
