Better ways to deliver
It is pretty much agreed that the usual way to have a baby is when you deliver in a hospital.Or to be more exact, most people assume that when you deliver a baby that medicine is required. In this article we are going to break those assumptions. We are going to show you some other methods that might prove to be better.
Of course these observations are going to be coming from the viewpoint of my experience running a San Diego midwife service. If you are unaware midwives are woman who help assist during the delivery process.A lot of the times without the use of medicine in a homebirth.
So why are women choosing this method of delivery? For a quite a few women who do choose this method and understand it, they have several factors for it.
First thing to consider is when no medicine is used, it usually makes the labor and delivery happen a lot quicker. Most women don’t realize that the use of medicine actually slows down the labor. Women use it to ease the pain but it actually prolongs the pain. There are many certified midwives in San Diego who can show you proof of that.
Second, when you do use a natural method such as a waterbirth, it actually helps the muscles and the body because it soothes and relaxes during the delivery. This of course helps ease the pain and makes delivery happen much faster. I have seen it helping many women have a waterbirth in San Diego.
Those are a couple of the reasons that women choose a homebirth as the method to deliver. Although it has no use of medicine and usually no doctors it has proven to be a safe method. When the delivery is in the home, it helps foster a more private and personal environment.Rather than when you are in a hospital where there will be a lot of people who poke and prod during the labor part.So with those reasons in mind, many women are going with a homebirth. It is a great natural process that is safe and dignified.
Exciting options for pregnancy
One of the best times in a woman’s life is pregnancy. So many woman long to have children. It is in the time of the pregnancy that those desires come to reality.
During the pregnancy plenty of choices and decisions are going to have to be made. One of those decisions and options is the method of delivery. It sounds out of place to state that their is a choice but there is.Most women will chose to use medicine to help them have the baby. But there is a movement that is getting larger who decide to have the baby naturally. In other words no use of medicine to help with the delivery. I have seen this from first hand experience as a San Diego midwife. It is from that experience that I want to share some benefits.
Now how come more and more women are deciding on having no medicine for delivery. A couple of reasons.First thing to point out is that women are now starting to realize that medicine actually make the delivery slow down. When you are in pain and want to deliver as fast as possible, medicine defeats the purpose.A lot of women are now starting to understand. What women don’t realize is that they can do it that way. If they choose to do it that way they can seek out a midwife. In my part of the country there are quite a few midwives in San Diego.
A midwife is able to help a woman gently deliver. They have the option of going with a waterbirth.Waterbirth is a way to delivery that uses water to ease the pain and ease the delivery.
Another thing is if a woman decides, a midwife can also help in a homebirth as well. Once again you can find a homebirth midwife in San Diego if you look.
The benefits of doing it at home is a relaxed and a less stressful environment. These two benefits alone make it inviting to have it naturally. If you are pregnant, it might be a choice you would want to make.
Alternative ways of having a baby
One of the effects that is sad due to our modern day and time in medicine is labor and delivery are pretty much medical procedures.
That might seem unusual to some because right off the bat people associate delivery with a medical event. But that is the big problem. It isn’t a medical event. It is an event that it is possible to keep it natural and private through alternate methods. Women
should be notified to the fact there are alternate ways.
I would like to present one of those main alternatives from the perspective of a San Diego midwife.
That main alternate way is by having a homebirth midwife assisty you during your labor and delivery. This practice is known as midwifery and there are plenty of midwives San Diego.
As the amount of c-sections and induction rates rise in hospitals, it has transformed a very happy moment of delivery into a possible negative experience.
That is a big factor of this push you see of women seeking more natural methods of delivery through midwives that are either certified or licensed.
Labor and delivery doesn’t have to include drugs, invasive procedures, constant probing of private areas, etc. It can be done safely and effectively in a home environment through that homebirth method or even a waterbirth San Diego method.
It is a service that does have high regulation. You are able to know all about a midwife’s experience and skill if you are considering hiring them.
But getting over that stigma of not having a baby in a hospital takes education. But most women can see if they looked and through experience that statistics prove that a good amount of times having a baby in a hospital can negatively effect the process. From the drugs they use to slow down pregnancy, or use to speed the pregnancy. To having to be put through a c-section. Hopefully women can compare and contrast and see the success of having a midwife.
So for those women who want to try and keep the delivery of the baby a joyous occasion, using a midwife might be something they should look into.
With the dawn of the internet age, being able to find information about the natural process is as simple as doing a search on the internet.
There they should be able to find helpful information of the process to help them fully understand. They are able to see if there are any safety issues and how they are handled. And most of all they can see how they can truly keep child birth a momentous occasion that can happily and privately as possible.
How to safely choose a midwife
Pregnancy, what a beautiful time in the lives of a woman. Well, I guess aside from the sickness. But beyond that, the expectation of a new baby coming is exciting.
Usually, for women in general, the question of how you are going to have the baby isn’t that big. Because most women will go the standard route of a medical procedure involving hospitals, drugs, and doctors.
But for some women, an alternative is available. That alternate way is going through a midwife and having the baby naturally. And it is that alternative I am going to share from my experience as a San Diego midwife.
For those unfamiliar, midwives help women go through a natural delivery with no drugs. This usually means no doctors.
Often times midwives in San Diego perform these services at homes. Although, maybe all this is foreign to most people, it is a safe and regulated alternative way to deliver a baby.
The women, or midwife, who performs this service is fully regulated. They can come in two forms which are a certified midwife or a licensed midwife, both of which are regulated and overseen by a board.
Sometimes they can be a nurse, but it is not a requirement.
This form of delivery is an option a lot of women choose and includes waterbirth in San Diego. Mostly the choice is made by women because they do not want any drugs during delivery and to prevent any drugs entering the new baby. Also it is going to be for some women who don’t want invasive procedures.
When you are making a big decision such as the method of delivering your baby, you want to make right decisions. With most things, you want to pick the right person.
As mentioned before, this industry is highly regulated. With that being the case, finding a good midwife who is licensed or certified is easy.
All you have to do is find your state regulatory board that oversees midwives and do a background check to see if there have been any complaints or issues with your prospective midwife.
Something as simple as this step will help you determine if this is a midwife you can trust.Of course when you do see that there are no complaints or bad reports about your midwife, you still want to check references.
You are going to want to find a midwife whose clients speak highly of them. With something as private and personal as a delivery, going through these steps will help you pick the right midwife for your delivery.
Labor and Delivery with a Midwife
Pregnancy and the act of labor and delivery, although joyful, also a source of pain. Obviously joy because of the new baby, but ask any woman, and they will tell you a source of unspeakable pain.
Well because of the pain that woman go through, there are two different schools of thought on how labor and delivery should happen. I am going to offer some perspective on one particular school of thought that I have gained first hand experience with by being a homebirth midwife San Diego.
There is the medical model for delivery which is associated with drugs to kill the pain, and sometimes cesarean to complete the delivery.
While there is a lesser known model, not as widely accepted, for those that have experienced it and believe in it, they consider it a safer alternative for the woman.
That model is called the midwifery model. That model is in stark contrast with the medical model.Where you have the medical model which depends a lot on medicine, midwifery prefers to rely on the natural.Midwifery philosphy believes that pregnancy, labor, and delivery should happen as naturally as possible because it is a natural process.
This model is carried out by a profession called midwives. Midwives San Diego are generally woman, who attend the birth, often times at the mother’s home. This midwife would help with some techniques that help the woman go through labor as naturally as possible without drugs.
Against most popular beliefs, not using medicine during labor actually allows the labor to happen quite a bit faster because drugs usually slow down the labor.
The midwife is a professional with a regulatory board that certifies and licenses the individual.
Although often not a doctor or nurse, some midwives can be nurses.
Even though they are not a doctor or nurse, they do carry with them some medical equipment, such as resuscitation devices and suturing equipment.
So in regards to pregnancy and delivery this is what a midwife is and generally what midwifery is about.
Their goals are to let the labor and delivery happen as naturally possible. This reduced the need and use of a c-section. Doesn’t allow you to be subject to invasive hospital procedures such as episiotomys. Less medical management like breaking the water or using drugs to slow or speed up the pregnancy. And the best part of all that a woman will love, generally labor happens much quicker naturally.
Hopefully this was informative and helped you understand some of the benefits of midwifery and having a midwife there for your pregnancy. At the very least, hopefully it gives you more options to explore. Remember this is first hand knowledge from a San Diego midwife.
