Old china plates don’t necessarily need to be thrown away. Consider using them to decorate different rooms in your house. By reusing items you already have, you can really save money on decorating your home. With just a little creativity, you can use old china plates to add to the décor of your home.

Make a Mosaic Table from Old China Plates
If you have old plates that are chipped or broken, don’t toss them in the garbage. Rather, break them up further so you can use them to make a mosaic table from all the broken pieces.

First, break pieces of china into smaller pieces.

Take all those pieces and arrange them on a table with a flat surface. You might choose a coffee table or a side table, for example.

Make a mosaic pattern by gluing the pieces of the plates onto the surface of the table.

Seal the pieces in place with grout, which will also give the table a finished appearance.

You can arrange the pieces in whatever pattern you like, and you might even use color grout to give the table some additional character.

Display Old China Plates on a Shelf
If your old china plates have character, why not put them out on a shelf? China plates make a great décor item in rooms besides the dining room. Display these plates in the living room, the kitchen, or even the bedroom, as long as they fit the style of the room.

Try to find a shelf that will match the style of the plates. For instance, for old antique-looking plates, use a distressed wood shelf. You can really give the area a unique style by using all different sizes of the plates.

Hang Old China Plates on the Wall
Plate hangers that will easily hang any plate securely on the wall can be found at craft and home stores. Although this is perhaps the most popular way of decorating with china plates, you can create a unique look by putting all different types and sizes of plates together in a single area. To create a trendy décor space, you might want to look in consignment shops and flea markets for other plates to mix in with your old china.

Paint the Old China Plates
You can repaint your old plates to match the décor of your room if they are white or even a solid color. Be sure to use acrylic paint. You can either paint them all one color, or if you are creative, you can paint pictures or patterns on them. Once you paint the plates to suit the décor of your dining room or kitchen, then you can either hang them on the wall or place them on a shelf. This is a great way to use old china plates while getting a new look from your room. If you like, give your kids a couple of plates to paint and then hang up this cute art project in their bedroom.

So when it comes time again to buy new china plates, don’t just throw your old ones away. Rather, save yourself some money and use them to decorate your home.

About the Writer…
Leon Tuberman has been in the furniture and interior decorating industry for four decades. He owns and operates a popular furniture store in Los Angeles. They have a large inventory of handcrafted Amish built solid oak furniture for your bedroom, home office and living room. Whether you’re looking for a wooden end table for your family room or a oak dining table for your dining room then they have everything you need.

The NFL is a huge business. From advertising to matches, sponsorship to merchandise it seems everybody wants a piece of the action. Getting your hands on an Authentic NFL Jersey is an great purchase for all NFL fans but how can you be sure that you are getting the real deal?

One of the first things you can do is to look at the way the sleeves are styled. Authentic jerseys come with mesh sleeves, where as bootlegs have sleeves and the body made with nylon mesh. The quality just isn’t there, which can be frustrating if you inadvertently end up purchasing a non authentic jersey as it will normally be too late to do anything about it.

Another issue to consider is that the authentic NFL jerseys will usually have an autograph, photo or other collectable as part of the package, especially if bought in one of the sports outlets. As everyone says if it looks to good to be true then it probably is.

Buying an authentic NFL jersey is more than just a purchase, you are showing a commitment to your team. There is nothing wrong with looking around for a bargain when it comes to buying an Authentic NFL jersey. Let me be frank if you want the real Authentic NFL jersey you will have to spend in excess of 0 depending on the team. There are no Authentic game worn jerseys for Period, You will be buying a bootleg. I am all about a bargain but be carfeful if the price seems to good to be true. Getting your hands on an Authentic NFL jersey is symboilic in showing your allegiance.

One major difference is the manufacturer. Authentic NFL jerseys are only made by one company and that is Reebok, so if it doesn’t have the labels then it won’t be genuine. Whilst Made in China is normal for a lot of clothing in the US, currently Reebok do not have any clothing factories in China, so if the jersey has any Made in China tags then sadly it won’t be an authentic one either, even if they claim to be made by Reebok.

There is more than one styling for a NFL jersey that is made by Reebok. The three styles mentioned are authentic articles, in that they are endorsed by the NFL and by the corresponding team. Reebok produced three different styles to reach a great size of the market due to the different price points. The most cost effective jersey is the Replica which retails for and has the name and number screen printed onto the jersey. The EQT Premier is the next level up and has screen printed tackle twill name and numbers embroidered on the jersey. The difference between the more expensive jerseys is that the premier jersey has one layer of fabric and the authentic jerseys have two, and the stitching that forms the number is more intricate and uses more colors.

One of the safest ways to ensure you are getting the real deal is to stick to reputable dealers in malls or online stores with a proven history. There is nothing wrong for looking for a deal. Many retailers have Authentic Jerseys on Closeout especially when a player is traded or changes team. That being said if you see a new jersey eg Terrell Owens in Buffalo for there is no way it is authentic. No retailer can buy a jersey for under 0 so keep that in mind.

Who are the Miao?

Do you think it’s possible to wear 30 pounds of pure silver jewelry from head to foot? Well, the Miao are a nation who proudly show off the beauty with their handmade, elaborately designed silver ornaments in a way that almost covers their entire body! Being a minority group in the mountainous areas of south and southwestern China, the Miao think the glistening silver is a symbol of light that can bring hope and prosperous future. There are so many different kinds of Miao silver ornaments, here are just a few:

Silver headdresses

Miao silver headdresses are quite a sight and are worn only on very special occasions, like weddings or important holidays. They feature three different parts: the horns, the hood, and the hat.

Silver horns: The silver horns are the most important part of a Miao silver headdress, and they are crafted to mimic the horns of an ox. From one horn to another, the headpiece stretches nearly three feet and extends almost the same height. So they can be almost half the height of the wearer!

The designs of the horn are very elaborate. They usually feature a pattern of two dragons playing with a ball. Women place a pair of white feathers onto the horn to make it higher and more beautiful, or adorn the horn with some silver flowers and butterflies.

Silver hat: A silver hat is the base of the headdress and can be a foot tall. It’s completely covered with silver flowers, birds, animals, bells, and

tassels. Behind the hat hang twelve pieces of silver feathers that can hang all the way down to their waist.

Silver hood: The silver hood hangs down from the hat and covers parts of the face and neck. In some Miao areas, there are five glistening ornaments placed on the silver hood, with the biggest one in the middle falling from the forehead and the others dropping around ears.

While in other areas, a silver hood has three layers. The highest layer sports 29 sparkling, round silver flowers. The middle layer sports a bright, round glass at the center, and 14 warriors riding horses standing at each side. The lowest layer is made up with fringes.

Silver hairpins

Miao silver hairpins always feature flowers, birds, and butterflies. The most attractive patterns feature 10 silver flowers laid out just like a Chinese fan. In the flowers are some beautiful, glistening beads, and around the center are five silver phoenixes.

Some hairpins are just like chopsticks with silver bells or tassels adorned on them.

Silver combs

Miao women use a silver comb to decorate their hair. The comb is made of wood with a thin layer of silver slices covered on its surface. On the surface of a comb are designs of birds, flowers, or the image of a Bodhisattva. There are some combs which feature big and long silver chains dropping down.

Silver earrings

Fabulous Miao silver earrings can be in the shapes of flowers, birds, butterflies, dragons, or plants. Miao women like to wear 3 or 4 pieces of silver earrings at the same time. Weighing 200 grams, a single silver reaches directly to their shoulders. But many small earrings have very fine threads which are nearly invisible.

Silver neckbands

Wide silver neckbands are similar to necklaces in the West, but they are rigid and have many pendants hanging down from them. There are many kinds of neckbands popular in the Miao areas. A dragon silver neckband features two dragons playing with a ball and has 11 different ornaments hanging from it. Another kind of neckband shows off 14 silver rings linked together, with silver birds or flowers dropping from each ring.

Silver bracelets

The Miao silver bracelets are engraved with the images of flowers, fish, or dragons. Some bracelets feature wide bands which is like the cuffs worn by warriors in ancient times. Miao women usually show off many silver bracelets at one time, sometimes more during festivals or holidays.

Silver rings

A Miao silver ring is usually quite small and has fine pieces of silver bent and shaped into flowers, birds, or plants. Some Miao women wear rings on all eight of their fingers, only leaving their thumbs free. Some rings can be half the length of their fingers.

Silver garments

Tiny silver slices or threads are commonly woven into the fabric of Miao clothing. There are more than 40 silver pieces in round or square shape that can be used. When put on a silver garment, the clothing sparkles beautifully with the Miao walking or dancing.

Each piece is engraved with amazing patterns such as phoenix, tigers, lions, butterflies, and flowers.

And sometimes there are about 60 silver bells hanging from the garments, which make sweet and beautiful sounds.

Silver waistbands

A silver waistband features hundreds of silver images of Bodhisattvas sewn on a piece of cloth. The Miao wear it around their waist, and the images shine beautifully when the Miao walk or dance.

Silver anklets

Last but not least are small but sturdy silver anklets that clasp above the foot. Miao children wear silver anklets to ward off evil spirits.
