No Simple Cure For Man’s Infertility
Many couples that are having trouble becoming pregnant naturally try different things. One of the things that people have been attempting recently is acupuncture.
Is it really possible that acupuncture could help married couples to become pregnant? It can if a couple of studies, one in the U.S. and the other in Germany, can be believed. And if true, the cost of ivf procedures may become moot less important.
One study in the U.S. where 51% of the women who received acupuncture treatments with their in-vitro fertilization treatments became pregnant, while only 36% of those without acupuncture treatments became pregnant. In the German in-vitro fertilization study (consisting of 160 women) – half were given acupuncture and half were not. Of the ones that received acupuncture, 30 became pregnant. Of the women who did not receive acupuncture, only 21 became pregnant.
When it comes to men, however, there haven’t yet been studies that link acupuncture and fertility herbs with fertility in men. Thus far, the only treatments available to men are the standard ones that have been around for a while – some which are quite simple to solve.
In the past, there have been situations where men have who were diagnosed as being infertile were really experiencing temporary infertility triggered by environmental or lifestyle factors. As an example, it’s well known that heat destroys sperm. As a result, men who spend a great deal of time in the hot tub or sauna may be defeating their efforts to get their partner pregnant because they’re destroying their sperm.
For similar reasons, its thought that men who wear briefs that are too tight cause their sperm to become overheated as well. And, again, this damages their efforts to conceive. In these cases, the recommended fix is easy. Simply spend less time in the hot saunas and baths and switch to wearing loose fitting briefs or boxers.
In the end, you’ll discover that every case is individual and that there really is no one magic fix for infertility problems. There are potentially an infinite number of reasons why a couple is having trouble conceiving. A good doctor will examine both the man and the woman for fertility issues and develop a plan based on his findings.
